Premiere for Audi at the Rolex 24 at Daytona

- Debut for new Audi R8 GRAND-AM customer sport race car
- Private teams APR Motorsport and Oryx Racing are on the grid
- Driver line-up includes Audi legend Emanuele Pirro

Ingolstadt, January 24, 2012 – Premiere coincides with anniversary: The Audi R8 GRAND-AM will make its debut on the 50th running of the Daytona 24 Hours from January 26 to 29. Teams APR Motorsport and Oryx Racing are each fielding one of the newly developed customer sport race cars in the GT class of the endurance classic.

The “Rolex 24 at Daytona” ranks among the finest classics in international motorsport. The event has been thrilling the sports car fan community since 1962. Some of the greatest racers in history have entered their names on the winners’ list – from Jacky Ickx and Hans Herrmann through to Hurley Haywood, A. J. Foyt or Derek Bell. Reinhold Joest, the founder of Audi Sport Team Joest has personally won this classic race in Florida too. Current Audi factory driver Mike Rockenfeller decided the competition in his favour with an American team two years ago. On the event’s 50th anniversary the organiser is treating the audience to an unusual and spectacular experience. A champions party with numerous racing legends, an exhibition of historic overall-winning cars, a carnival complete with a Ferris Wheel, a 5-kilometre run on the track for all sports enthusiasts on Saturday before the race, autograph sessions and pit walks are just some of the attractions featured on the last weekend in January.

“We are proud to be part of the action for the first time at the event’s special anniversary,” stresses Werner Frowein, Managing Director of quattro GmbH, which has developed the Audi R8 GRAND-AM. “Two customer teams have already opted for our new race car and we are currently in negotiations with other buyers. Following its appearance at Daytona, the Audi R8 GRAND-AM will also be seen at the other twelve rounds of the GRAND-AM series. In the future, our customers will be directly supported by Audi of America. This presence in America is another important element of developing Audi Sport customer racing.” At the season opener, the Audi R8 GRAND-AM is competing against about 30 other vehicles in the extremely large field of the GT class while so-called Daytona prototypes are driving for overall victories. The Daytona 24 Hours marks the beginning of the 2012 GRAND-AM Road Racing season. In 2008, Audi was last represented in the United States for a whole season with a factory commitment featuring the Audi R10 TDI LMP1 sports car and won the title in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). This was followed by only isolated sports prototype commitments at Sebring and Road Atlanta. Now the APR Motorsport and Oryx Racing customer teams are flying the colours of Audi Sport customer racing as part of their own commitment.

“Entering the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series is the biggest challenge APR Motorsport has taken on so far,” emphasises Stephen Hooks, President of APR. “Our team prepared for this step at previous runs in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge. APR is known around the world as one of the leading tuners of Audi, Volkswagen, Seat and Škoda vehicles. We’re looking forward to the Audi R8 GRAND-AM with huge anticipation, our customers and fans are really excited and since the ‘Roar before the 24′ test we’ve just been dying for the 24-hour race to start. The race team based in Opelika, Alabama, headed by Jeff Mishtawy, is relying on a five-strong international driver squad. The Americans Ian Baas and Dr. Jim Norman, Nelson Canache from Venezuela, Dion von Moltke with South African roots plus former Audi factory driver Emanuele Pirro from Italy form the driver team.

Oryx Racing will compete at Daytona with team owner and driver Humaid Al Masaood from the United Arab Emirates. He will be sharing the car with his compatriot Saeed Al Mehairi and the Briton Steven Kane. “2012 is a new chapter for Oryx Racing and Arabic motorsport,” says a delighted Al Masaood. “We’re entering a new car in a series that’s new to us. It was important to us to be involved in the project right from the beginning and help continue to develop this fascinating customer racing car from Audi to become as competitive as possible.” The team hails from the United Arab Emirates and has a team base in the United States in West College Corner near Indianapolis.

After a qualifying session on Thursday the race will start on Saturday (January 28) and end on Sunday (January 29) at 15:30, local time.

The New, Seventh-Generation Porsche 911 Debuts At Prestige Imports

2012 911 Carrera and Carrera S are ready to conquer the hearts and minds of Denver sports car enthusiasts

Lakewood, CO – January 25th, 2012 – Prestige Imports today announced that the new Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S models have arrived in their Lakewood, CO Porsche showroom. The latest generation of the iconic Porsche 911 goes on sale Feb. 4.

Following its introduction last fall, automotive media world-wide have designated the latest 911 as the best iteration of Ferdinand Porsche’s sports car vision yet. It is destined to remain every bit the icon it has been since its 1964 debut.

“Whether this will be a customer’s first or just their latest Porsche 911, it’s going to be the most exhilarating driving and ownership experience yet,” said Justin Adis, Prestige Imports General Manager. “The 911 Carrera and Carrera S are the ultimate choices for drivers who want a true benchmark-setting sports car that they can put through its paces and enjoy all week long, not just for show or on weekends.”

For 2012, the 911 has been completely redesigned from the ground up. The new model applies singular balance to the priorities of a new era, preserving the classic 911 lines, yet revisiting every inch for advances in power and fuel economy. While enthusiasts will recognize the 2012 911 Carrera at a glance, 90 percent of its components are either new or fundamentally revised.

Its sleek and stretched silhouette, pulse-pounding contours and precisely designed features signal its rich heritage from every viewing angle. Longer, lower, wider, 100 lbs. lighter, faster and more efficient than previous models, the 911 is the perfect blend of modern design, intelligent engineering and performance DNA.

In addition to aesthetic improvements, both new models offer significant performance enhancements. The 2012 911 Carrera is equipped with a new, 350-horsepower, 3.4-liter boxer engine, while the Carrera S features a 400-horsepower, 3.8-liter boxer engine-a 15hp improvement versus its predecessor. The 911 Carrera with Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) accelerates from zero to 60 in 4.4 seconds, while the Carrera S sprints from zero to 60 in a mere 4.1 seconds. That time is reduced even further to 3.9 seconds when equipped with the Sports Chrono Package Plus. Top track speeds for the 911 Carrera and Carrera S are 179 and 188 mph, respectively.

As with every generation, the new 911 Carrera continues to raise the bar in both performance and efficiency. This is achieved through systems such as the Automatic Start/Stop function, engine and transmission thermal management, electrical system recuperation, the world’s first seven-speed manual transmission and-in conjunction with PDK-the ability to ‘sail’ or coast. The new electro-mechanical power steering offers the typical Porsche precision and helps to increase efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.

The new 911 Carrera Coupe will have a base MSRP of $82,100, and the 911 Carrera S Coupe will start at $96,400 (excluding destination fees). Contact one of our Porsche Sales Specialists for complete information on pricing and availability – 303.238.8101.

Audi Brings Drivers in Lakewood a Brighter Driving Experience

It might not be the first feature you look at when considering a new car, but the headlights are important to your safety and the look of the car actually.  Let’s do a little case study on HIDs.  They are known to be pretty bright. But, in comparison to Audi LED technology, which offer the clarity of polarized lenses, HIDs are pretty much comparable to looking through a haze. Prestige Audi serving Lakewood, CO inquires, “Why should any driver ever be asked settle for that, especially considering the myriad of other benefits LEDs lend drivers as well?”

Are you curious to know what other benefits they provide? Well, compared to HIDs, LEDs offer quicker reaction time.  On a green note, the energy used by LEDs is light years less ‘no pun intended’, and they have more longevity.  And let’s not forget the aesthetic appeal.

That covers a high level overview of LEDs. Now let’s go down to the molecular level: they provide daylight-like white light, which gives the driver extreme clarity. Driving at night now, doesn’t have to be a game of worrying if those shadows are actually there or not.

Beyond premium illumination, Audi LED headlight technology includes a highly intuitive auto on/off high-beam feature. Essentially, the car can run itself, and turn on the high beams when needed, adjusting them to normal brilliance as it detects oncoming traffic or the taillights of a car up ahead.

LEDs are not just limited to headlamps in Audi, vehicles, either. The German luxury a utomaker has incorporated the advanced technology into the interior of many new Audi models to enhance ambiance, as well. To experience this type of driving aided by Audi LED technology for yourself, visit Prestige Audi at 9201 W. Colfax Avenue Lakewood, CO 80215, today. We’ll provide  you with any information you’d like and get you behind the wheel to test it yourself. Regardless of which LED-equipped Audi you choose, we promise it will be a bright future.

Have any questions? Ask Prestige Audi online, anytime. And, be sure to stay tuned for more Audi news, coming soon.

100,000th 2nd Generation Cayenne Rolls Off The Assembly Line

Anniversary year “10 years of Porsche’s Leipzig plant” gets under way with production milestone

January 20, 2012, Stuttgart/Leipzig. The 100,000th second generation Cayenne was assembled in Leipzig today. At the same time, this production anniversary is the kick-off to an eventful anniversary year at Porsche’s Saxony site. “Ten years ago the success story of Porsche Leipzig started. What was a greenfield site, today ranks among the most modern car plants in the world. In addition to the Cayenne, Leipzig is also where Porsche produces the very successful Panamera luxury sedan, approximately 70,000 units of which have now rolled off the production line. That is why more than 93,800 vehicles left the Porsche plant in Leipzig in 2011, more than in any year before”, says Wolfgang Leimgruber, Member of the Executive Board of Production and Logistics of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG.

The 100,000th Cayenne is being made ready this very day for shipping to Brazil, where the “pure white” V8 SUV will be handed over to its new owner.

The Cayenne line is being sold in more than 124 markets in five model variants spanning a power range from 245hp to 500hp and average fuel consumption ranging from 20.5mpg to 32.7mpg. The second generation of the Cayenne has been produced in Leipzig since 2009 with Porsche delivering over 360,000 units of the first generation Cayenne to customers since 2002.

“Because of the consistently high demand for the Cayenne and Panamera we will be introducing a third production shift in Leipzig at the end of January. With the new production sequence, 500 vehicles on average will be produced each day,” Leimgruber adds. The introduction of a three shift operation is only one of many challenges in the near future. Construction for a major expansion of the plant is currently underway. A paint shop and body assembly line for an entirely new model line that will start to come off the Leipzig production line from the end of 2013 onward are among the facilities being built on a 42 acre site. Porsche is investing a total of 500 million euro in the Saxony production site for assembly of the Cajun, creating more than 1,000 new jobs.

Siegfried Bülow, President and Chief Executive Officer, explains: “2012 will therefore be an eventful and exciting year in many respects. We are welcoming many new employees, holding topping-out ceremonies on the new site, celebrating the 500,000th Porsche “Made in Leipzig” and last but not least the tenth production anniversary.

Audi and International Ski Federation (FIS) Continue Strong Alliance

- Car manufacturer partner of International Ski Federation until 2018
- Naming of Audi FIS Ski World Cup enters next decade
- Winter sport is perfect stage for Audi and quattro drive

Jan 20, 2012, INGOLSTADT, Germany. Audi stands shoulder to shoulder with the athletes of international skiing: the Ingolstadt based automobile manufacturer has agreed to a continued partnership with Fédération Internationale de Ski (FIS) until 2018. As a consequence, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup will continue to be staged under the Audi banner.

Audi has been active in winter sport for almost three decades, and the partnership with FIS goes back ten years: the Ski World Cup celebrated its premiere under the banner of the four rings in the 2002/2003 season. A presence in winter sport is of great importance for Audi due to their unique quattro all-wheel drive system, which can display its superiority especially on wintery terrain. Historically, the presentation of the Audi brand and superior quattro technology at the FIS World Cup has made Audi and quattro the number one choice among winter sport athletes. This successful partnership is now continued within the framework of a long-term agreement over the next six years.

“Winter sport provides us with a perfect stage,” says Peter Schwarzenbauer, Board Member for Marketing and Sales of AUDI AG: “Winter, snow and ice – Audi feels very at home in this world. We look forward to exciting competitions and want to inspire even more people for the wide variety of disciplines.”

Gian Franco Kasper, President of FIS, emphasizes: “The partnership between Audi and FIS celebrates a major milestone. From the very first day, we have enjoyed a working relationship based on trust and a great spirit of innovation. I’m delighted that we will now continue this cooperation in the same manner.”

The 2011/2012 Audi FIS Ski World Cup season has been running since October and enjoys one of its highlights this weekend with the races in Kitzbühel, Austria. AUDI AG has also been title sponsor of the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup since October 2011.

Here in Colorado, Audi was the title sponsor of the Birds of Prey World Cup Race Week at Beaver Creek in December 2011. Interestingly, three Women’s World Cup races, scheduled for Val d’Isere, France, were also moved to Beaver Creek, due to insufficient snow. Vail’s own Lindsey Vonn thrilled her hometown crowd by winning the Super-G.

In Colorado ski country, the combination of Audi quattro all-wheel drive and World Cup Skiing is a perfect match. At Prestige Audi in Denver, CO, we have a huge selection of new Audi and certified pre-owned Audi vehicles ready to transport you safely to your next winter get-away or simply across town for work. Audi’s Super Bowl Spot Will Highlight LED Technology and 2013 Audi S7

- For the 5th year in a row, Audi will air a :60 spot in the first quarter
- Signature LED technology takes center stage in Super Bowl spot
- LED-themed activations kick off January 29 at the Audi Forum in New York

Jan 17, 2012 , HERNDON, VA. Audi today revealed details of its highly-anticipated Super Bowl advertisement, slated to run in the first quarter of the big game on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. In the upcoming 60-second spot, the brand’s signature LED headlights will take center stage along with the new 2013 Audi S7 sedan. The story theme remains undisclosed.

“With LED, there’s no mistaking an Audi. Since pioneering the technology nearly ten years ago, LED lights have established the Audi persona have become one of the most recognizable features on the road,” said Scott Keogh, Chief Marketing Officer, Audi of America. “Like our LEDs, this year’s Super Bowl spot will be unmistakably Audi.”

With a color temperature of 5,500 Kelvin, Audi LED headlights are the closest re-creation of daylight available, providing numerous safety benefits, such as helping drivers’ eyes perceive more contrast and experience less strain. Traditional lights take 0.2 seconds to engage, while LEDs are immediately activated making driving safer, faster. In addition to safety, LED lights save resources by using 50-percent less power required from the alternator – which in turn reduces the load put on the vehicle’s engine – and can last the lifetime of a vehicle.

Throughout February, enthusiasts can visit Audiusa.com to interact with LED-themed content and learn more about Audi’s signature technology, including its design, safety, efficiency and performance benefits. Beginning on January 29, visitors to the Audi Forum in New York can explore an interactive LED-focused digital experience.

The all-new Audi S7 combines thrilling performance, stunning design, and intelligent efficiency technologies in a package that further enhances Audi’s exciting new A7 five-door coupe. Audi MMI Navigation plus comes standard on the S7, which includes Audi connect enabling Google Maps and Google Search as well as a Wi-Fi hot spot for up to eight devices. The Audi S7 is fitted with the new 4.0 liter TFSI with 420 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque.

Super Bowl XLVI marks the brand’s fifth consecutive time as an advertiser in the big game. San Francisco-based Venables Bell & Partners is creating the spot.

In last year’s “Release the Hounds” spot, Audi became the first Super Bowl advertiser in history to tag an ad with a Twitter hashtag. The adventurous spot, featuring the new Audi A8 flagship sedan, was a parody of individuals attempting to escape from the confines of old luxury as portrayed in a luxury prison. The spot also featured a comical cameo by legendary musician Kenny G.

In 2010, Audi’s Super Bowl ad showcased a soundtrack created by rock legends Cheap Trick and featured the A3 TDI “Green Car of the Year” clean diesel vehicle, showing how easy being green can be. The brand’s 2009 spot featured actor Jason Statham in a series of high-speed chase scenes involving luxury competitors, sending the message that luxury is evolving. In 2008, the brand’s first Super Bowl spot delivered a parody of the movie “The Godfather,” signaling that Audi was ready to take on the perceived luxury leaders.

Porsche Planning for Expanded 911 Production

So how does Porsche plan to keep up with unprecedented demand for its new 911 in the face of ambitious sales targets and impressive growth in emerging markets?  Flexibility and Synchronization.

“Our biggest challenge is to manage our growth in a controlled way. We need to hire new staff, expand production capacity, the suppliers need to adjust to our requirements — there’s a whole bunch of measures that need to be synchronized with each other,” said Matthias Mueller, Porsche CEO, at the Detroit auto show on January, 9th.

In order for Porsche to keep up with consumer desire for the 911 line, they will need more than just the usual productivity increases from assembly line improvements.  Expansion is one option; however, it is a limited one in light of Porsche’s Zuffenhausen factory placement in an urban area of Stuttgart. Another option is to speed up assembly lines, but this has to be balanced with Porsche’s adherence to the very highest levels of quality control.

One option, that is not an option at all, is moving production of the 911 out of the Stuttgart facility. In response to this idea, Mueller stated, “It’s a dogma – the 911 is built in Zuffenhausen,”.

In light of these limitations, Porsche will need to take a broad based approach to managing the growth of the 911 production line. Regardless of the solution they come up with, one thing we know for sure is that the Porsche 911 will be an extremely popular and iconic sports car for years to come.

Back here at Prestige Imports, in Denver, CO, we are expecting the first new 911 Carrera and Carrera S shipments to arrive very soon. Be sure to get in touch with one of our Porsche Sales Specialists for information on pricing and availability – 303-238-8101.

Porsche Announces The All New Porsche Boxster And Boxster S

The New Boxster – Lighter and more muscular, more distinctive and more fuel-efficient

Stuttgart. Never before in the history of the Porsche Boxster was a change of generation so comprehensive. The open-top two-seater is being marketed with a completely new lightweight body and a completely revamped chassis. Considerably lower weight, longer wheelbase, a wider track and larger wheels significantly enhance the mid-engine sports car’s driving dynamics. Already far and away the best in its class, the new Boxster’s driving dynamics are further supported by the new electro-mechanical power steering. While boasting superior performance, the new models are also up to 15 percent more fuel efficient. Depending on model, they can do significantly better than 29 mpg.

The new Boxster delivers what the fundamentally changed styling with shorter overhangs, significantly forward-shifted windscreen, flatter silhouette and expressive edges promises. The passengers are enclosed by the completely redesigned, fully electric soft-top, which dispenses with a convertible top compartment lid. The interior concept offers the occupants more space and reflects the new Porsche outline with the raked center console, which ensures further improved ergonomics in all models.

Top view of the all new Boxster   The new Boxster and Boxster S side by side

The new sports car generation makes its debut in the classic Porsche pairing of Boxster and Boxster S. Both models are powered by flat-six engines with direct fuel injection, the efficiency of which is further enhanced by electrical system recuperation, thermal management and start/stop function. The base model’s new power unit delivers 265 hp from a 2.7 liter displacement – ten hp more than its larger displacement predecessor. Mechanically, it is now based on the 3.4-liter engine of the Boxster S. This now delivers 315 hp, which is five hp more than before. Both models feature a manual six-speed gearbox as standard with the seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) available as an option. Both sports cars achieve their best fuel consumption and acceleration performance with the PDK. The Porsche Boxster’s fuel consumption with PDK is 30.5 mpg and 29.4 mpg for the Boxster S. With PDK gear changes that do not interrupt power flow, the Boxster sprints from zero to 62 mph in 5.7 seconds, the Boxster S in 5.0 seconds.

To enhance driving dynamics further, Porsche offers the Sport Chrono Package as an optional extra for the Boxster, featuring dynamic transmission mounts for the first time. Also new in the Boxster is Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical rear axle differential lock.

The market launch of the new Boxster generation will be on April 14th, 2012. The basic list price in Germany will be 48,291 euro for the Boxster and 59,120 euro for the Boxster S, including 19 per cent value added tax in both cases.

For pricing, availability, or more specific information on the all new Boxster please call one of our Certified Porsche Sales Specialists – 303.238.8101 – or visit our Prestige Porsche Boxster specific landing page.
